PROCESS - HOW IT'S MADE
Here are images of my ceramic pieces in production. I use hand-building techniques mainly consisting of slabs of clay, using plaster formers to help create curved shapes for the larger pieces.
The current clay I am using is heavily grogged and creates a beautiful surface texture and it is incredibly strong. Various tools are used to build and refine the edges of these sculptural forms.
To decorate the pieces I use multiple layers and add slips, oxides and underglazes to different stages using stencils, mono-printed and free hand styles to create a rich surface quality.
Each piece is different to the next and all items are designed and made exclusively by myself, Meghan Downs.
